Bloomfield Utility Department Hydrant Flushing Notification

When is flushing preformed?

Flushing is scheduled during the summer months and will normally be conducted Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 3:00 pm.

Why is flushing performed?

The utility’s annual fire hydrant flushing program removes minerals and sediment that build up over time and ensures that all fire hydrants are in good working order.

What to expect?

Discoloration or cloudiness are possible following hydrant flushing in your area. Generally, this will clear up by running cold water for several minutes. Although the water is still considered safe to use during this time, customers should refrain from doing laundry when water is discolored.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the hydrant flushing process, please contact the utility department at 262-279-6039.
