TREASURER & TAXES

The Treasurer's Office is now shared with the Municipal Clerk.  Duties specific of the Treasurer are banking and deposits, reconciliations, treasurer reports, financial statements, annual audit, annual budget, tax collection, and dog license collection.  For more information, please contact the Treasurer's office at (262) 279-6039.

TAXES:
  The Treasurer collects all personal property taxes and only the first installment of real estate taxes.  After February 1st of each year, the municipality may no longer accept tax payments.  Please contact the Walworth County Treasurer's Office to pay delinquent and second installment real estate taxes at (262) 741-4251 or view county treasurer information online.

Parcel Numbers:  For your information, when the Village was incorporated, the property tax key letter "M" was changed to "&" on the tax records and mapping.  Delinquent village taxes must be searched by the county under the old parcel number.

SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS:  For questions regarding water and sewer special assessments or for payoff information for the life of the specials, please contact the Utility Department at (262) 279-5020.  Garbage special charges are paid in arrears. 

TAX FORECLOSURES:    If you are purchasing tax foreclosure properties, the new owner is responsible for paying all unpaid special assessment and special charges that were charged on any delinquent property tax bills, in addition to assessments and charges that were taken off the tax bill(s) by the county.  What you should know before you purchase tax foreclosure properties.
